Free Birds

who are free birds?

  • Free Birds are adults in our 50's and 60's. You may still have kids at home, but you are headed towards that season often called "empty nesters." We call you a Free Bird. As you progress through life, you find circumstances change. This requires all of us to understand the changes, refocus, and then recommit to those things that have purpose and meaning to us and to others.
  •
  • We currently have a great and growing group. Many still work and have high school or grown kids at home. Others are retired but passionate about their commitment to Christ. Many are dealing with elderly parents and working through that process. Some are unemployed due to the economic downturn. Many are trying to determine God’s call in their life as the career winds down and they don't have any more kids to raise. Many wish to make new friends. Some are attending church consistently for the first time and trying to understand what a relationship with God is all about. We also welcome folks that are single, either due to choice or by being divorced or widowed.
  •
  • Free Birds meet weekly on Sunday mornings at 9 & 10:30 a.m. at the D-House. We invite you to visit us! See our current session list and descriptions below. Contact Darlene Stokan, 770.985.6753 cell with questions.

  • It is our hope to offer many choices in the coming months that will enable you to participate in a study and discussion in a format that meets your needs and expectations.
  •
  • Things to consider about Free Bird Sessions:
    • No prior Bible knowledge is required. If you are alive and breathing, you qualify.
    • We want you to feel comfortable to try different sessions to see what you prefer.
    • We believe you have gifts, abilities, and experiences that add to the richness of Free Birds.
    • We encourage you to share those experiences, good and bad. We encourage you to invite your loved ones and friends to Free Bird sessions.
    • We are on this journey together to connect with new friends and also to discover the goodness and faithfulness of God in this season of life.
    • Attending Free Bird Sessions is only a small portion of what we hope to provide you. It is also our hope that you will find a place to serve and also enter into "community" where you can establish friendships and "do life".
