Dinner for 8
- What is Dinner For 8?
- Groups of 7, 8, or 9 people who take turns hosting a gathering once a month for four months for a meal and conversation. The emphasis is on fun
and friendship so you don?t have to be a great cook to participate! During a four-month period you will host only once, and will be a guest on three
occasions. When it is your turn to host, you decide when and where. Perhaps your group will have a picnic in a park or host lunch or dinner at home or in a restaurant. It?s up to you!
-
- When can we sign up?
-
- Groups will form continuously throughout the year. We will have periods where this ministry is highlighted in January and August (simultaneous with GroupLink) to try to spread the word about Dinner for 8.
-
- How do we sign up?
- Click here to register online, or you may fill out a form available in the lobby, or email:
Darlene Stokan (Ages 50-65)
Peter & Chrissy Kuzel (Under 50)
-
- What is expected of each host?
- The host contacts the other members of your group to set the date and time for your dinner.
- - The hosts provide the meal in their home. Singles can team with another single or couple. Groups are encouraged to keep the meals casual and focus on the fellowship. Don?t worry if you don?t have a large dining area or are not a gourmet chef, it?s the coming together that matters!
- - Some groups may decide that the hosts provide the entire meal; other groups may decide that the hosts provide the main dish and beverages while other group members contribute sides and dessert. Some groups even meet in restaurants or at a park; some like potluck ? it?s totally up to your group.
-
- Will there be separate Dinner for Eight groups for singles & couples?
- NO! Our intention is to mix EVERYONE together. That way, it?ll be more fun.
-
- This is sounding better & better, but I have kids. What happens to them?
- The decision to include children will be determined by your group. Please indicate on the registration form if you are open to including children in you D48 group.
-
- Then what happens?
- Look for your Dinner for Eight email telling you who else is in your group along with their phone numbers and email addresses. Each group member will be assigned as a host once in the following four months. The first host is responsible for contacting others in the group to set up the first dinner. Remember, look for new names, the point is to meet and/or get to better know other folks in our church family! It is highly recommended to schedule all the future dinner gatherings your first night together.
-
- What happens when the four months are over?
- Hopefully, you will have had such a wonderful experience that you?ll sign-up again for another round! Or perhaps, you have had such a great time together as a group and you are eager to continue on as a D48 group for another session or as a new small group. As the groups end you are encouraged to sign up again for brand new D48 groups.
